Discovering the Perú Avantgarde blog can be one of the most significant finds for any music enthusiast. Even more so if their tastes lean toward experimentation and electronic music. This discovery becomes even richer when you get to know its author—a true music lover and the architect of an essential space for reading, forming opinions, and accessing information.

Over the years, the blog has grown into a foundational structure within Wilder’s “avant-garde temple.” Tirelessly, year after year, he produces articles, essays, reviews, and more, transforming the blog into a vast library and historical archive of today’s digital postmodernity.

Recently, this digital architect took on the task of compiling a small part of his work —doing it all would require more volumes than the COROMINAS— from Perú Avantgarde and self-published it in print. The book stands as both a testament and a document of what happened within an incredibly prolific scene in Latin America, one with its own unique identity that demands the place it deserves in the avant-garde landscape.

We spoke with Wilder Gonzales Agreda for just two hours—a mere fraction of time compared to the 20 years of the blog’s history.

💻 About our PROCESS

The editing process was lightning-fast: we conducted the interview and, just a few hours later, were already editing it. The conversation was long and filled with some technical gems that can be appreciated—details that no AI on planet IO could fix… at least, not yet.

As 2024 draws to a close, chatting with the “Flying Wil” remains a pleasure. Editing his words gave us yet another opportunity: delving deeper into knowledge we didn’t have at hand and sharing insights that often remain confined to private circles.

Regarding technique, we followed our usual workflow: transcoding and audio editing with Oceanaudio for Windows, composition, mixing, and mastering for platforms using Ableton Live 11, and a playlist generously curated by Wilder to accompany our conversation.
