Conceptual Noise and Improvisation Activist

Explore the groundbreaking work of Mattin, an artist and theorist who delves into noise and improvisation to confront structural alienation through performative estrangement.

Artist, musician and theoretical/practical thinker, who works conceptually with noise and improvisation. He explores performative forms of estrangement to address structural alienation. In 2017, he participated in documenta14 in Kassel and Athens. He has performed at numerous festivals such as Performa (NY), No Fun (NY), and Club Transmediale (Berlin). He has taught at institutions like Dutch Art Institute and Princeton University. Mattin is part of the bands Billy Bao and Regler, with over a hundred releases. He co-hosts the podcast Social Discipline and teaches at HDK-Valand. He co-edited “Noise & Capitalism” with Anthony Iles (2010) and published “Social Dissonance” in 2024.
