█ #OnThisROUTE: Sebastian Jatz R. Composer, translator and bell ringer. In 2008 he founded arsomnis with which he has realised large-scale projects such as John Cage’s Musicircus, Reunion and ASLSP, Erik Satie’s Vexations and his own Cien Acordes Geométricos Extendidos and Recuerdo tu Nombre, among many others. He has made numerous individual and collective sound interventions, in public and institutional spaces, both in Chile and abroad. His work uses diverse experimental sources, intersecting timelessness, disciplines and reflections from literary, philosophical and even religious fields, with a critical and autonomous perspective. Simultaneity, an expanded notion of music in extended spaces and times, the collective and the metaphorical, are constant axes in his proposal.
As a translator, he has published more than 25 books by Jan Fabre, John Cage, Joseph Kosuth, Celeste Olalquiaga and Kenneth Goldsmith, among others.
He is a bell ringer and founding member of Campaneros de Santiago.
And so, between exchanges and comments, we shared this talk about noises and silences in this radio programme.
